This year the city of Kenner’s Christmas Village is moving to Kenner City Park and will hold an opening holiday ceremony on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn will greet Santa Claus and light up the village at 6:00 p.m., signifying the official start of the Christmas season in the city.
The band, Phunky Monkeys, will entertain directly after the tree lighting and will continue until 9:00 p.m. Kenner Parks and Recreation Department Director Ken Marroccoli, said, “This year we have added more days so the village will be open after Christmas. Santa Claus will be visiting our Christmas Village every Wednesday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday from noon until 8:00 p.m.
From November 25 through December 30 and will also be available for pictures every day the Christmas Village is open. ”Christmas Village admission and parking are free. Non-profit organization and local vendors will be selling food and drinks and live groups will entertain visitors every night. “We hope everyone will enjoy the small town Christmas feeling the village projects plus it’s a great way to start off the holidays,” said Marroccoli.
