Article reprinted from Kenner Star September 2017 Edition – “Impastato and Martiny are vying for Jefferson Parish council seat”

For the upcoming October 14, 2017 election, Kenner District 5 Councilman Dominick F. Impastato and state Senator Daniel R. “Danny” Martiny, are the two Republican candidates that will contest for a council seat representing Jefferson Parish’s District 4.

The position became open when Ben Zahn was elected as Kenner mayor in December 2016 and subsequently vacated the Jefferson Parish seat in January 2017. Jack Rizzuto, who currently holds the position, was appointed as interim councilman by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards to serve starting February 24, 2017. The winner of the election will fulfill Zahn’s unexpired Jefferson Parish council term which ends January 2020.
